Ordering a New Tesla?

I was recently rear-ended and my 2013 Lexus GS 350 was totaled as a result. There I was in a position of needing to quickly shop for a replacement vehicle. While shopping I mentioned to my wife that I might want to get Tesla one day and she said maybe I should not wait as I am not getting any younger any my next car might be my last! What?

You see we tend to purchase certified-preowned vehicles and drive them until 200,000 miles or the wheels fall off…whichever comes first. I kept my previous GS 350 for about 14 years! So we decided to go test drive a Tesla Model 3 here in Atlanta just to determine if that was an option.

Driving a Tesla (Electric Vehicle) or EV is quite an experience since it is so different from a conventional internal combustion engine car (ICE). There is no engine to start and with regenerative breaking (uses the vehicle’s momentum to charge the battery when de-accelerating) where you do not have to use the breaks was all new. I had been in a couple of Tesla’s before but relatively ignorant on current details particularly about the new Model 3 which became available in 2018.

After the test drive my wife and I were intrigued so after some more research we decided it would be a great vehicle to purchase. The cost of maintenance is so low and the cars appear to have an extended life if properly maintained. So we ordered a 2020 Tesla Model 3 AWD. It will be a few weeks before it is delivered. I will post again once we get some miles under our belt.

If you are also considering a Tesla, please use my referral link listed above as it will earn both of us many free charging miles at Tesla’s many Superchargers around the country. You MUST use the link when you go place the order. If you forget, Tesla will NOT add the referral code after the order is placed. Your only option would be to forfeit your $100 deposit and start over which sort of defeats the purpose of the free miles. So use the link above when ordering your new Tesla and let me know how it goes.
